Imagine How Far We Have Come…           (back)

The success this far of seeing ImagineU’s vision come to fruition has been a collaborative effort!

The City Council has shown vision in supporting ImagineU’s goal to build a first class facility in Visalia by offering an extended lease for $1 per year on two acres located close to downtown, for the benefit of this new museum. They also plan to provide infrastructure improvements such as a new street, storm drain and landscaping for an adjacent ponding basin. The museum location will provide an important anchor in the link between the vibrant downtown core and the downtown expansion.

Other community relationships have been forged with College of the Sequoias, the Tulare County Office of Education, and Visalia Unified School District. The college will be helping to build new exhibits and has agreed to include technology equipment for the museum in its upcoming bond, as well as partnering in future grant opportunities and internship relationships. The school districts have offered personnel as board members and consultants and will be working with the museum to correlate state standards with particular exhibits. Additional relationships will be developed with businesses and industries that may want to participate in exhibits related to their products or services.

Taylor/Teter Partnership, a local architecture and engineering firm, is heading the design team which includes exhibit designers, engineers, LEED specialists and landscape architects.

Committees for fundraising, exhibit design, grant writing and building design are actively implementing progress under the leadership of the Board of Directors.
