ImagineU Field Trip Options
Self-Guided Exploration
During self-guided exploration, teachers, chaperones, and museum staff help students get the most out of exhibits by encouraging them to research questions that are posted at each exhibit. Older students may participate in the ImagineU Scavenger Hunt.
Self-Guided Exploration/
Exploration Station
Children will enjoy a combination of self-guided exploration as well as small group instruction at an Exploration Station. Call the museum to request a particular topic of study or choose from one of the labs listed below when you plan your field trip. ImagineU staff will set up and run the lab where small groups of students receive a mini-lesson and participate in hands-on exploration.
Field Trip: Exhibits and California Standards
Students who participate in our Exploration Workshops and/or our ImagineU Scavenger Hunt as part of a field trip, have activities tailored to meet their grade-level and learning needs and Standards:
Language Arts Standards are met as exhibit information requires children to read, comprehend, and analyze non-fiction text. They must answer questions, follow written directions, and write about some of their findings. The text at each exhibit is written at approximately a third grade level.
Mathematics Standards are met when students make predictions, measure, weigh, graph and analyze data as they participate in experiments.
Kindergarten through 6th Grade Investigation and Experimentation Science Standards are related to most of our hands-on exhibits.
